MapStudio launches GPS compatible maps
MapStudio, the largest publisher and distributor of maps in Africa, has launched a range of ’GPS friendly’ maps to assist drivers and holiday-makers navigate throughout Southern Africa.

The range was launched earlier this year with the Map of Gauteng Roads. This map clearly identifies road exit boards and major intersections which are pinpointed with GPS waypoints. These have been independently driven and verified for accuracy. The waypoints provided can be directly entered into a GPS unit, making navigation as simple and effortless as possible.

"We realize that people need to see the bigger picture. We all know how technology benefits our lives but it isn’t fool-proof so we decided to create a range of maps that will work well alongside GPS units", says Lois O’Brien, MD of MapStudio.

MapStudio plans to extend this range by including waypoints on all forthcoming Road Maps and other related products, not only for South Africa but extending well beyond the borders of this country. The GPS maps are not intended to replace GPS navigation, but have been designed to rather complement them with useful information and to give one a sense of the bigger picture.

Titles to be launched later this year in the series include Road Maps of the Flower Route, KwaZulu-Natal, Cape Town & Surrounds, Mozambique, Botswana and Southern Africa.

Maps currently in this series are Angola and Namibia.
